They are mainly composed of electronic components and do not involve mechanical components. In theory, photovoltaic power generation technology can be used for any occasion that requires power, from spacecraft to home power, from megawatt power stations to toys, photovoltaic power is everywhere. The most basic element of solar photovoltaic power generation is solar cells (sheets), including monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon and thin film cells. Single crystal and polycrystalline batteries are the most used, and amorphous batteries are used in some small systems and calculator auxiliary power supplies.

The efficiency of domestic crystalline silicon cells is about 10 to 13%, and the efficiency of similar foreign products is about 18 to 23%. A solar panel consisting of one or more solar cells is called a PV module. Photovoltaic power generation products are mainly used in three aspects: one is to provide power for the occasion without electricity, mainly to provide power for the life and production of residents in the majority of areas without electricity, as well as microwave relay power, communication power, etc., in addition, it also includes some mobile power and reserve power; Second, solar daily electronic products, such as all kinds of solar chargers, solar street lights and solar lawn lights; Third, grid-connected power generation, which has been widely implemented in developed countries. Our country has yet to start generating electricity connected to the grid, although solar and wind power will provide some of the electricity for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
